The immediate future is online, but some time planning around March next year

There are some signs that real events are becoming more difficult to arrange. Maybe this is just my impression from a virtual world but I look forward to comments if this is way off from what most people notice. It could be pressure of time so that conferences over two or three days are no longer easy to fit into a schedule.

Whatever the reason, I am now thinking about #mtw3 as online only for the next few months. The only sequencing will be to work through the videos on the YouTube playlist. This takes about five hours if you play each one. I will be looking for the suggestions as there could well be updates.

I will also work through the discussion on LinkedIn. Search on #mtw3 to find the group.

Twitter needs another look also. Apologies that I have let this slip over the summer. The name shows up as mtw3 but the actual Twitter address is @mtw34 . I think I may have already joined previously and then lost the password or something. But I will definitely pay more attention to Twitter. #mtw3 finds some other topics as well but woiuld work better with more use.  I think the move online is not a bad sign. As a conference event #mtw3 may appear not to be happening on any scale, but the issues are moving on. Things may be obvious but still worth repeating now and again.

The virtual worlds are still there also. I won't go on about this but hope the topic will be included once some other issues are sorted out.

In March 2015 I propose to publish a schedule so that there is some sort of structure and sequence for topics. The dates could fit with actual events if any are suggested. Please have a think about this.

New Scan of original Management Theory at Work schedule

On Scribd there is now a scan PDF based on a timetable for the first Management Theory at Work conference in 2001.

It should work with comments in Adobe Reader if you download the PDF. Thanks to Will Pollard for the scan. He has made some comments on Hello Spiders as well as trying out some pictures with boundaries. The way that #mtw3 relates to the AMED gathering will become clear over the next few weeks.

I also notice he is a bit more open to virtual worlds. We are not going away any time soon.

Something seems to be happening around September

I notice Will Pollard has posted about #mtw3 being revived around the actual event "Managing and Organising Across Borders". the blog is at Hello Spiders and the event website is HERE.

I also notice he has revised the Google doc that shows an outline of the agenda for how Management Theory at Work can flow as a discussion. I realise this is becoming more obvious as the technology for publishing links back to the original keynote. But I think the low priority for virtual worlds is a bit unfortunate. I am still working on this official #mtw3 blog and also updating the Twitter feed. It is true that not much has happened recently but I don't think #Virtual should just be dropped. I continue to exist in Twinity and although the map data is a problem we can still move between spaces.

Good luck to the actual Work Foundation and real time such as September but this is not the only reality.

Google doc for #mtw3 this quarter, please add or comment here

There is a new Google doc available to cover the next few months. It is mostly #tags but starts with the John Burgoyne talks on YouTube and Soundcloud. These are updates from the keynote at the first Management Theory at Work conference. The #tags cover the main issues that have appeared so far. See the LinkedIn group.

#BSclients is about why internet companies usually do not consult with business schools. we have not any comment that this is not the case.

#Design includes Design Science. In theory this relates to management as well as learning.

#Publishing has been added. Personally I hope that we will get back to #Virtual but I can see that IPEX is mostly about print so this is often assumed as an obvious form of publishing. Why not invest in more virtual worlds instead of binding equipment. But I know this is just me and my avatar friends. BETT is probably still mostly about publishing in print, I notice Ricoh will be there.

After BETT and/or IPEX there could be a loop back to John Burgoyne and how to publish aspects of his talk. Some of the books may be revised soon. There is a Kindle version of a Manager's Guide To Self Development so other formats may work as well.

The doc can be downloaded to scribble on or else please add comments.

Update and test, BETT and IPEX

I notice Will Pollard has started a new topic on the LinkedIN group for #mtw3. I understand he is thinking about BETT and later IPEX so the content of #mtw3 can be revised. I don't propose to start any new topics at this time. It seems clear enough that the various versions of the John Burgoyne keynote are an update of ideas around the learning organisation for online. This is the starting point and we usually end up with forms of publishing such as Knowledge Unlatched, a major innovation project at the Work Foundation. I can see how this might fit with BETT but there is really only the rest of this week to do this. It may be better to wait for the month of February when there will be a lot more time ahead of IPEX in March. Of course the conference structure could be repeated at any time.
